Why we run
Terry Fox is one of Canada’s best-known heroes. In 1980, after losing a leg to cancer, he set out to run across Canada on his Marathon of Hope to raise money for cancer research. Schools across Canada and around the world still run in his name every September.
As a Canadian school in Abu Dhabi, Maplewood keeps that tradition. The day reminds our students that one person, driven by courage and purpose, can change the world, and that every step can make a difference.
A day together
Students carried the Terry Fox Run posters they had made in class, ran their laps around the school and the sports field, and finished with water and refreshments together. Thank you to every student, teacher and family who took part.
