Celebrating Emirati Women’s Day
The story
28 August 2026
Every year on 28 August, the UAE celebrates Emirati Women’s Day. At Maplewood we marked the day by celebrating our Emirati students and honouring the Emirati women of our school community.

About the day
Emirati Women’s Day was established in 2015 at the initiative of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, to recognise the role of women in building the UAE and shaping its future.
She can be anything she dreams to be
The two posters we made for the day carried a simple message for our girls: she can be anything she dreams to be. We celebrated our Emirati students and the bright futures they are building through curiosity, ambition and determination.
She inspires, leads and shapes tomorrow
We also honoured the Emirati women of Maplewood, whose dedication, leadership and compassion inspire young minds and shape the future every day.
UAE values at Maplewood
As a Canadian curriculum school in Abu Dhabi, Maplewood pairs an Alberta education with strong UAE values and identity. Days like this one help our students understand, and take pride in, the country they call home.
