Innovation begins with curiosity and grows through exploration. In early October our students put that into practice, designing and building models of greener places to live and presenting their ideas to their classmates.

From idea to model

Working in teams, students planned parks, play areas, rivers and homes, then built them by hand from card, clay, stones and recycled materials. Some groups added parking, footpaths and trees to show how a neighbourhood can work for people and for nature.

Students also presented their thinking to the class, explaining the problems they wanted to solve. At Maplewood we encourage students to discover how technology, sustainability and creative thinking can solve real-world challenges and shape a better future.
